Searching for chicken/country fried steak in the area I found this place. And knowing people that live in the area was recommended to try it out. Any time I travel and find a place with either chicken or country fried steak I go there to try it out. This was certainly one of the better ones. It wasn't over breaded so much that the steak slid out immediately, which is a common issue. Right amount of breading to me, and it was a good thickness cut of meat. The fries and the mac & cheese that I got with it were also good. The service was great and everyone I interacted with was nice. I would definitely go back to try other things because there was such a good variety to choose from.

We were driving towards Texarkana and needed to stop for dinner. This was a higher rated place along the way and the food pics looked tasty. It was a Saturday night and the place was hopping. That said, we were able to find a spot in the parking lot and only waited for about 5 minutes to get a seat. The atmosphere was sports bar for the most part. That said, the atmosphere was really lots of people having a good time. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress in training. It wasnt long before our drinks showed up. And considering how busy they were, it was quite fast when the food showed up. My wife and kid got burgers and they were quite big (need a fork big). Both of them exclaimed about the flavor. I got the Swamp Basket which was also massive. Everything in it was plenty tasty. I didn't have any alcoholic drinks, but I gotta say that I was tempted by the reasonable prices. So, in the end, the small detour seemed worth the time. It was definitely noisy if you're not into that though.

Huge shout out to Purple Onion and Chad! It is really hard to find a restaurant that had great food for both adults and children at a great price, and Purple Onion excelled on everything! The food was awesome! Chad was our incredible server, and he made wonderful suggestions for us and made our dining experience so fun. The cheese dip and shrimp (fried and grilled) were amazing, and we had a great table in the corner where we could talk and watch tv. We will definitely be back later this week!

Ordered red beans rice and sausage. The best I've had seen moving from New Orleans. I just had needed to add hot sauce. Their fried pickles were delicious also.

Purple Onion in Cabot continues to be one of the most reliable and satisfying restaurants in the area, offering a blend of American, Cajun/Creole, and seafood dishes that keep locals coming back again and again. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the service is consistently friendly, and the menu is packed with comfort‑food favorites that feel both familiar and elevated. One of the absolute must‑try items here is the Cajun mashed potatoes. They’re rich, creamy, perfectly seasoned, and pair beautifully with almost any entrée. This side alone captures the restaurant’s Cajun influence — bold, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. Multiple menu descriptions highlight Cajun sides like these as part of their signature plates, and they truly stand out on the table. But the real star of the show is the chicken fried chicken. Purple Onion’s version is everything you want from this Southern classic: tender, juicy chicken with a perfectly seasoned, crispy coating. It’s one of the best in town — generously portioned, cooked to perfection, and consistently praised by diners. The menu confirms it as one of their staple entrées, and it absolutely lives up to its reputation. Beyond those favorites, Purple Onion offers a wide variety of dishes, from seafood plates and Cajun specialties to burgers, brunch items, and hearty comfort food. Popular items like the Swamp Basket, Cajun Catfish Plate, and crispy chicken salad show just how diverse the menu is. We are from out of town. Stopped here for dinner on Sunday evening. Wow, the food was delicious, the service and atmosphere, fantastic. We started with the bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos. I had the easy peel shrimp and my husband had the shrimp and grits. I recommend all of it. 😋 I also want to give a shout out to Anderson (Adam). What a great server. Thank you.

Huge shout out to Caitlyn at Purple Onion!!! We can put some food away after a busy day… especially when it comes to crab and steak. And tonight, we did exactly that at The Purple Onion in Cabot. Everything was excellent as usual. The food never misses, and our server Caitlyn was absolutely incredible. She went above and beyond in every way, even when we asked to move to a bigger table to accomodate the quantity of food we tend to order, fetching extra seasoning since somebody apparently keeps throwing away the Tony Chacheres containers. 👀 Seriously… she and her awesome helper (didn't get her name) deserve a raises 100%. And bonus points for not just dropping the check after the main course & a few beers and disappearing like some of these youngens do nowadays 😂 She actually took care of us the whole time. We even grabbed a limited-time strawberry shortcake made with Holland Bottom Farm LLC strawberries to-go due to her recommendarion… and I promise it looked a lot better before it took a ride home in the Dark Horse and the kiddo got ahold of it . Great day. Great food. Great people. #GiveCaitlynARaise #GoodService #EatLocal
